English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United (United) drew 1-1 with Fenerbahçe (Turkkiye) in the third leg of the UEFA Europa League League Phase in the 'Mourinho Derby'.

United drew 1-1 with Fenerbahçe in the third leg of the 2024-2025 UEL League Phase at the Şıkrü Sarazolu Stadium in Turkkiye on Friday (May 25).

The result is United's third consecutive draw in the UEL League Phase this season and leaves them in 21st place with three points.

Fenerbahce have drawn their last two matches and are 14th with one win and two draws (5 points).

The match was billed as the Mourinho derby.

Mourinho, who coached Fenerbahce from May 2016 to December 2018, won one Europa League title (2016-2017 season) and one League Cup (2016-2017 Cup) with Manchester United.

Mourinho's first game in charge of Fenerbahce since leaving United to take over at AS Roma (Italy) in June was against his former club, 토토사이트 but he was unable to secure a win and was sent off in the 11th minute of the second half for protesting a decision.

Against Fenerbahce, United boss Eric Mourinho's shaky position was further weighed down by the draw, despite scoring the opening goal in desperate need of a win.

United have just three wins, two draws and three losses (11 points) in the EPL this season, slipping to 12th place, while they have also failed to overcome a poor run of form in the UEL league phase with three draws.

Tenakh, who took charge of United in April 2022, won the League Cup in 2022-2023 and the FA Cup in 2023-2024, but the draw was all the more disappointing given that he has been on the brink of dismissal due to his continued poor EPL form.

The opening goal belonged to United.

Christian Eriksen burst into the penalty area on a counter-attack in the 15th minute and scored with a right-footed shot.

After a strong Fenerbahce attack that forced the goalkeeper to make a fine save, United went into the break with a 1-0 lead, but Youssef En Nesri equalized with a header four minutes into the second half.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Fenerbahce's Bright Osei-Samuel went down after colliding with United defender Manuel Ugarte on the right side of the penalty area, but the referee didn't award a penalty.

Mourinho then got into a heated argument with the referee and was shown a red card and sent off, leaving United and Fenerbahce to play out the game 1-1 with no further goals scored.

Mourinho told TNT Sports after the game: “I praised the referee because it was amazing that he was watching the penalty with one eye and at the same time watching my behavior on the bench with the other. He is the best referee in the world,” he teased.
